Scott and I remained close friends after HS, me at Gustavus and he at St. Olaf.  Visited each other often, with the highlight of riding on TOP of the elevator in the coed dorm at SO, where Playboy photos were taped to the shaft walls at the top.  He visited me in 1969 when I worked in Manhattan.  In 1970 Scott joined me, Bob Hoffman and John Ellis living in the then (not now) crime ridden Selby Dale neighborhood of St. Paul.  Fun times.  Lost touch in later years but this news saddens me and brings back great memories.

I lost touch with Scott after high school but thankfully re-engaged at a reunion and thereafter. He was as sincere, thoughtful, and personally warm as ever.  He was, quite simply, a good guy who cared deeply about his family and community.  Another MHS classmate we were honored to know

Scott was one of those gentle giant types of people, strong, quiet, not imposing but impressive by his quiet demeanor.  I looked at his photos from high school and that on his death announcement and saw the same eyes.  I sounds like he had a great life and wonderful family.  What else do you need?  Sleep well, my friend.  Rex Averill

I have an especially lovely memory of Scott when he made a surprise visit to my home one fall evening. It was dusk and he almost literally appeared out of the blue at my back door. I invited him to join me at the kitchen table where I was studying.  The content of the long conversation that followed isn't clear to me but I do have a clear memory of the impression Scott made that night, and the friendship that began.  Regrettably, I lost touch with Scott soon after our high school years but as others have shared I treasure having known this gentle, kind, quiet, interesting. and fun guy.

And I send thoughts of love and peace to Scott's family and all of us who grieve Soott's passing.

I had a memorable time with Scott and his lovely wife Mary at our 50th reunion. They had come all the way from California and he was clearly happy to be there.  We had such fun sharing old memories of high school days and updating each other about our lives.  I'm remembering with fondness his big smile,  his love and pride for his family, and his courage in the face of diminishing health.  He was a good man.  May he rest in peace....
